Information at a glance: Sr High Mission Trip (incoming 9th graders welcome!) is going to team up with Team Effort this summer. Last year we worked in a rural area in the mountains of North Carolina. This year we are working in an inner city area in Chicago, Illinois. Next year we are planning on an International mission trip (Guatamala, Brazil or Puerto Rico – details still being worked on for 2009). Where: Chicago, Illinois (inner city) “Within these bustling cities are many areas where families struggle to just get by. Your group will be able to reach out and serve in some of the poorer inner city neighborhoods through a variety of service projects including home repair, children’s activities, and working at food and clothing distribution centers. Your youth will have the opportunity to serve in several of these outreach programs during the week leading to a full experience in inner city missions.” When: Still waiting on confirmation of open dates (TBA) Potential dates: 1st choice: June 22-28, alt. date: July 6 -12 Lodging:Groups stay at a local church or school facility. All meals are provided except two lunches and two dinners during free time.
Typical Schedule:Sunday: Registration begins at 6:00 pm. Orientation, music and worship. Monday: Work on mission projects. Evening music and worship. Tuesday: Work on mission projects. Sports and game night. Evening music and worship. Wednesday: Work on mission project. Special evening program. Thursday: Optional half day of work. Free afternoon and evening. Friday: Free day to visit local attractions. Closing evening worship service. Saturday: Depart by 10:00 am.
